Carp, Cards pile on the hits in series finale
Matt Carpenter, who tied the Major League record for doubles in a nine-inning game, and the Cardinals used a six-run first inning to vault past the Rockies on Sunday at Coors Field. Tyler O’Neill connected for a two-run homer for St. Louis, which knocked Colorado starter Tyler Anderson from the game after just two-thirds of an inning. Trevor Story and Gerardo Parra collected RBIs for the Rockies in the loss.
