Myers, Padres rally vs. Diaz to edge Mariners
Bryan Mitchell worked six innings of one-run ball Tuesday evening, and Wil Myers smacked a go-ahead double in the ninth as the Padres beat the Mariners, 2-1, in the series opener at Safeco Field. In his two outings since he returned from a right elbow impingement, Mitchell has allowed two runs on six hits in 11 innings. San Diego got on the board in the fourth on Franmil Reyes’ infield hit, and the game stayed tied at 1 until the ninth inning, when Hunter Renfroe, Eric Hosmer and Myers all notched line-drive hits against Mariners closer Edwin Diaz.
