White Sox bullpen hangs on after Shields baffles O’s

James Shields put on a clinic in a win against the Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Shields mixed his pitches and delivery, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings for his first road victory since Opening Day. Trey Mancini was responsible for two of the hits — and both runs — on two towering homers against the veteran right-hander. The O’s picked up steam against the White Sox bullpen, rallying for four runs in the seventh inning to cut it to a one-run deficit, but Ryan Cordell tacked on an insurance run in the eighth with his first career hit — a long home run.
