Tigers on wrong end of rout; magic number 1

DETROIT — The AL Central-leading Tigers still control their own fate and can clinch a fourth straight division title with a win on Sunday afternoon. On Saturday night, however, the Tigers’ opportunity to wrap up the division race eluded their grasp in a 12-3 loss to the Twins. With the White Sox edging the Royals, 5-4, the Tigers kept their one-game lead over second-place Kansas City heading into Sunday’s Game 162.
