Reds blank Cubs behind dominant Mahle
The quality of the Reds’ young starting pitching will ultimately make or break their 2018 season. If they make progress, the team should wind up doing likewise. That’s what made rookie Tyler Mahle’s start on Monday against the Cubs so encouraging. In a 1-0 victory, the Reds’ first of the season, Mahle worked six innings, allowing one hit and two walks with seven strikeouts, while throwing 86 pitches.
