Sale tops 100 mph multiple times vs. ChiSox
Whether it was trying to bounce back from a rare, two-start slump or the adrenaline of facing his former team, Red Sox ace Chris Sale had unprecedented gas in his start against the White Sox on Friday night at Fenway Park. When Sale struck out Daniel Palka on a 100.3-mph fastball in the top of the fifth, it was the fastest pitch by a starting pitcher on a swinging strikeout this season, surpassing Yankees ace Luis Severino, who got a K on a 100.2 mph pitch earlier this season.
