Cards crush 3 homers to back Flaherty

The Cardinals hit three homers, and Jack Flaherty pitched into the seventh as St. Louis topped the Padres 5-2 on Monday in the series opener. Marcel Ozuna, Jose Martinez and Jedd Gyorko each homered as the Cardinals took the opener of the three-game set. Cory Spangenberg hit a solo homer, providing San Diego one of its few offensive bright spots in the series-opening loss.
