Surgery to sideline catcher Vazquez 6-8 weeks

The Red Sox will be forced to endure an extended stretch without catcher Christian Vazquez, who is expected to miss six to eight weeks after undergoing surgery on his fractured right pinkie finger, manager Alex Cora announced before Monday’s game against the Rangers. The 27-year-old Vazquez, hitting .213/.249/.300 in 60 games this season, was placed on the disabled list on Sunday.
