After losing Thornton, Yanks add Hill to ‘pen

The Yankees swapped out one left-handed reliever for another on Tuesday, when Matt Thornton was awarded on a waiver claim to the Nationals. New York signed Rich Hill to a big-league deal and assigned the veteran southpaw to the 25-man roster to fill Thornton’s slot in the bullpen.
