A’s top M’s, move 1 game back in AL West race

Mike Fiers allowed two runs in six innings, and Jed Lowrie hit a tiebreaking homer in the third inning for his 100th career blast to lift the A’s past the Mariners, 3-2, on Tuesday. The A’s are now one game back of the Astros, who suffered their fifth straight loss, for the AL West lead. Robinson Cano went 1-for-4 in his first game back from his 80-game suspension for the Mariners. Felix Hernandez made his first career relief appearance after James Paxton left in the first inning after being hit on the arm by a comebacker.
