Astros will place McCann (sore knee) on DL

The Astros are planning to place veteran catcher Brian McCann on the 10-day disabled list with right knee soreness and purchase the contract of catcher Tim Federowicz from Triple-A Fresno, general manager Jeff Luhnow said Tuesday.
