Boston Celtics’ Marcus Smart has thumb surgery, expected to return in 6-8 weeks

BOSTON — The Boston Celtics announced today that guard Marcus Smart underwent successful surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his right thumb. Smart is expected to return to basketball activities in 6 to 8 weeks.
