Cards’ Martinez blanks Padres with 3-hitter

Yadier Molina had a two-run single Monday against the Padres and Carlos Martinez took care of the rest, tossing eight scoreless innings with nine strikeouts as St. Louis remained three games back of the Rockies for the second Wild Card spot. Padres pitcher Luis Perdomo had a big game, allowed two runs over six innings with six strikeouts.
