Cody Reed gets help from Gennett to earn 1st win

Cincinnati’s Cody Reed got some help from Scooter Gennett to earn his first win this season on Friday. Reed tossed six scoreless frames, striking out six and walking no one in his best start of the season. Jeff Brigham countered with five innings of two-run ball, but walks shortened his outing. Two of those walks set up Gennett in the third inning for a two-run double, and the second baseman added a long two-run homer in the seventh, going 2-for-3 as he chases the National League batting title. The Marlins scored two in the eighth, but Raisel Iglesias pitched 1 1/3 innings to close out the victory.
