Craw crushes, SF solves Scherzer for series W

Brandon Crawford hit his eighth homer of the season, a two-run shot in the fourth inning, and came up a triple shy of the cycle in the Giants’ victory over the Nationals. San Francisco secured the series win by holding Washington scoreless; starter Derek Holland contributed five frames in the game, followed by Mark Melancon, Sam Dyson, Tony Watson and Hunter Strickland. Nats starter Max Scherzer struck out nine and held the Giants to four hits, though he walked three.
