Crew clobbers Cards, back alone atop Central

The Brewers’ boom-or-bust offense exploded in the series opener — with the aid of four Cardinals’ errors, contributing to six unearned runs. For the Crew, Manny Pina homered, and Eric Thames, Travis Shaw and Jesus Aguilar all had multi-RBI games, while Matt Carpenter stayed hot with a homer for St. Louis. Brent Suter (7 IP, 2 ER) was terrific in outdueling Carlos Martinez, who only lasted four innings as his struggles continued.
