Ervin shows power, speed, defense in Reds win
Fans at Great American Ball Park had to wait out a two-hour and 37-minute rain delay, but they were treated to a big win over the visiting Padres. Jose Peraza hit a bases-clearing double in the second for the Reds, but San Diego stormed back courtesy of a Hunter Renfroe homer and Manuel Margot’s RBI double. But a grand slam by Scott Schebler — the Reds’ 10th of the season and a new club record — gave Cincinnati a big cushion in the sixth inning. Phillip Ervin did it all, including a diving grab, a suicide squeeze bunt and two homers to go along with four RBIs.
