Harvey’s 10-K day keys Reds to rainy victory
Matt Harvey recorded his first double-digit strikeout performance since May 8, 2016, during Sunday’s 7-2 win for the Reds over the Padres at Great American Ball Park. After the start time was moved up an hour due to impending weather, the game was rain-shortened to just 6 1/3 innings. Cincinnati scored all seven of their its runs in the second, capped by a grand slam from Joey Votto, who went deep for the first time since July 9. San Diego’s offense came from first baseman Eric Hosmer, who tagged an opposite-field two-run blast in the fourth.
