Jeter’s off-field legacy lives on with Turn 2
Twenty-one years ago, almost to the day, Derek Jeter etched the first few letters of his name into Yankees lore with a long fly ball to right. The ball was hit far, but not far enough. That is, until 12-year-old fan Jeffrey Maier pulled it over the right field wall at Yankee Stadium, giving New York a win in Game 1 of the 1996 American League Championship Series and Jeter his first signature postseason moment.
