Mahtook’s HR leads Tigers in V-Mart’s finale

Mikie Mahtook delivered the decisive blow for the Tigers in their 5-4 win over the Royals at Comerica Park on Saturday. On a night in which Victor Martinez would play the final game of his 16-year career, Detroit held on late for the win after seven innings of two-run ball from right-hander Jordan Zimmermann. Martinez collected the final hit of his career in the first before being lifted for a pinch-runner. Alex Gordon and Salvador Perez hit solo homers for Kansas City in defeat, while Jakob Junis threw a quality start for the fourth time in his last five outings.
