Marlins strike early, Smith sharp to open trip

The Marlins scored four times in the first inning en route to a series-opening win over the Padres. Cameron Maybin went 3-for-4 with two RBIs against his former club, while Caleb Smith pitched into the eighth for the first time. Franmil Reyes homered for the Padres, who got only 2 2/3 innings from Eric Lauer.
