McNeil’s hot bat spurs Mets to rainy series win
The Mets prevailed over the Nationals in a back-and-forth finale, led by Jeff McNeil’s four hits and Michael Conforto’s three RBIs. Both starters, New York’s Steven Matz and Washington’s Erick Fedde, had abbreviated outings and struggled with control. Victor Robles led the Nats’ offensive charge with his second homer in the third and a two-run triple in the eighth, but the late rally fell short as Anthony Swarzak tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings for the save.
