Morton rolls, Astros drop magic number to 2

Jose Altuve, Carlos Correa and Evan Gattis knocked in runs in the first inning and Charlie Morton took care of the rest, allowing one run in six innings as the Astros reduced their magic number to two. The Mariners, who stayed 3 1/2 games back of the second Wild Card, saw James Paxton struggle in his return to the rotation, as he allowed three runs in 1 1/3 innings. Jean Segura knocked in both of Seattle’s runs.
