No. 2 prospect Smith to join Mets on Friday

Trading Jay Bruce, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson clarified Thursday, was less about clearing salary or acquiring new talent than it was about opening roster space. Their attention now fully turned to 2018, the Mets want to see what their younger players have to offer.
