Ohtani’s 19th HR sets record for Japanese rookies

Shohei Ohtani hit a three-run homer in the third inning of Friday’s game with the White Sox, his third home run in two games since receiving the diagnosis that he may need Tommy John surgery. The home run was Ohtani’s 19th of the season — just his second against a lefty — and it set a new record for Japanese rookies.
