Padres avoid arbitration with Amarista, Thayer
The Padres reached a two-year, $2.5 million contract with infielder-outfielder Alexi Amarista and a one-year, $1.375 million deal with righty middle reliever Dale Thayer. Both contracts avoided arbitration and came in the hours before Friday’s deadline for players and clubs to exchange figures.
