Padres, pitcher Kim don’t come to deal by deadline

The Padres were unable to come to terms with Korean left-handed pitcher Kwang-Hyun Kim on a contract before Thursday’s deadline. The Padres had until 2 p.m. PT on Thursday to reach a deal with Kim, who the team would have looked at as a starting pitcher, but probably pegged better as a reliever.
