Phils win in 13th on 1st walk-off HR in 2 years
Andrew Knapp crushed a pinch-hit walk-off home run in the bottom of the 13th inning to give the Phillies a 4-3 win and four-game series victory over the Nationals on Sunday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park. Earlier, a fifth-inning gamble from Phillies manager Gabe Kapler got the Phillies on the board. The offense was struggling, so Kapler used Carlos Santana to pinch hit for starting pitcher Jake Arrieta with two on and one out. Santana walked, and Cesar Hernandez did the same to plate the Phillies’ first run. After Rhys Hoskins lined to right to score Nick Williams on a sacrifice, Odubel Herrera snuck a two-strike pitch past a diving Mark Reynolds at first base to single home the tying run.
