Redmond tears Achilles tendon playing tennis
In 13 years as a big league catcher, Mike Redmond played through pain, withstood a handful of jarring collisions and avoided significant surgery. The offseason hasn’t been as kind. The Marlins’ manager showed up at the Winter Meetings sporting a walking boot on his right foot, the result of a torn Achilles tendon he sustained while playing tennis. Surgery is set for Friday.
