Reports: Cubs sign 5 arbitration-eligible players

According to multiple reports, the Cubs avoided arbitration with right-hander Kyle Hendricks ($7.405 million), outfielder Kyle Schwarber ($3.39 million), lefty Mike Montgomery ($2.44 million), righty Carl Edwards Jr. ($1.5 million) and shortstop Addison Russell ($3.4 million). Noon CT on Friday marked the deadline to exchange proposed salary arbitration figures with eligible players.
