Rockies homer thrice to overcome shaky pitching
Rookie Ryan McMahon produced an effortless swing for his game-turning, three-run homer in the Rockies’ wild 10-8 victory over the Mets on Wednesday night at Coors Field. The pinch-hit shot off Robert Gsellman with two down in the bottom of the fifth gave the Rockies a 9-8 lead, after a pitching meltdown in the top of the inning that undid some early offense, including a Nolan Arenado solo shot. Charlie Blackmon’s leadoff shot in the sixth made the lead surprisingly safe, given earlier events.
