Taillon dominates Royals with career-high 11 K’s
Jameson Taillon set a new career high with 11 strikeouts over seven shutout innings and the Bucs walked off for the second straight night on Ryan Lavarnway’s pinch-hit single in the 11th, the newly signed veteran’s first career game-ending knock. The game exploded late: After Colin Moran’s pinch-hit homer in the seventh, the Royals tied the game on Hunter Dozier’s pinch-hit double in the ninth. That K.C. didn’t score more was down to Taillon and Francisco Cervelli, who applied great tags to get outs at the plate in the seventh and ninth (preventing two from scoring on Dozier’s hit). Royals starter Eric Skoglund was good himself, with six scoreless innings to extend his stellar run since returning from the DL.
