Trout’s 9th-inning 2B boosts Halos in WC chase

Mike Trout broke a tie with a three-run double in the ninth inning against Seattle closer Edwin Diaz, as the Angels took the first game of a four-game series. Tyler Skaggs tossed 6 1/3 shutout innings and C.J. Cron and Andrelton Simmons hit homers. Nelson Cruz and Jean Segura hit homers for the Mariners, who saw pitcher James Paxton leave after 6 1/3 innings with a left pectoral strain.
