Wacha cools Brewers as Cards pound 3 HRs
Michael Wacha didn’t allow a hit until the fifth inning as he held the NL Central-leading Milwaukee to one run over 6 2/3, improving to 6-1 with a 2.71 ERA. The Cardinals offense backed him with 10 hits, including solo homers by Harrison Bader, Matt Carpenter and Francisco Pena, and a two-run hit from Jedd Gyorko. The Brewers, who had a four-game winning streak snapped, lost shortstop Tyler Saladino to an ankle sprain in the third inning.
