With chance to gain ground in West, Giants fall short

San Diego’s Andrew Cashner came three outs away Saturday night from pitching his second consecutive shutout, but the Giants’ ninth-inning rally wasn’t quite enough as they dropped a 3-2 decision that stalled their chances of capturing the National League West title.
