Asuaje, Friars drop D-backs into 1st-place tie

Carlos Asuaje tripled and scored the game’s first run while adding an RBI single in the seventh to lead the Padres in the series opener as the D-backs fell into a first-place tie with the Dodgers in the National League West. Wil Myers logged a pair of run-scoring hits and rookie left-hander Eric Lauer fired five strong innings for San Diego, while Austin Hedges hit a go-ahead homer in the fifth. Shelby Miller fanned seven in the loss for Arizona.
