Bird tags Verlander for his 1st homer of season

The Yankees have been keeping the light on for Greg Bird’s return, believing that his left-handed stroke would be a difference-maker for their already formidable lineup. The slugging first baseman delivered on that promise in the seventh inning on Monday, cracking his first homer of the season to break up a shutout bid by Astros right-hander Justin Verlander.
