C-Mart pitches like an ace as Cards top Giants

It was not three weeks ago in Milwaukee that the Cardinals hit a low point in their season with their most dynamic starter on the mound. Carlos Martinez’s erratic performance that night — his fourth in a row — had the Cardinals wondering not if, but how and when, their ace would return to form. Martinez has done just that. Now riding a second upswing in what has been a streaky first half for the right-hander, Martinez delivered perhaps his crispest outing of the year to lead St. Louis to a 3-2 win over the Giants on Saturday.
