Hanley lifts Sox to franchise-best 12-2 start
As he left Fenway Park late Friday night, Red Sox manager Alex Cora was inclined to give Hanley Ramirez one more day to rest. Ramirez had taken a fastball off the wrist on Thursday and didn’t play Friday. The veteran slugger smashed a two-run home run in the first inning and an RBI double in the fourth inning to propel Boston to a 10-3 rout of the Orioles on Saturday at Fenway Park. J.D. Martinez hit a solo home run as well for the Red Sox, who improved to 12-2 to start the season — the best start in franchise history.
