Hellickson’s perfecto bid has Nats on 9-1 run
Jeremy Hellickson retired 18 straight Padres before Travis Jankowski led off the seventh with a single to spoil the right-hander’s bid for a perfect game. Hellickson finished having allowed two hits and no walks with eight strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings, chipping in an RBI double as he led the Nationals to a 4-0 victory on Tuesday night at Petco Park. With just enough offense vs. a solid Clayton Richard, Washington won for the ninth time in its last 10 games.
