Nats outpace Giants after Gio’s short start
The Nationals’ Gio Gonzalez went just 3 1/3 innings in his shortest start of the season, but his team lifted him with a four-run frame to outpace the Giants. Matt Adams led the charge in that big 2nd inning with a two-run double, and Anthony Rendon added his second RBI of the game. Bryce Harper launched his National League-leading 19th homer of the season in the 4th. San Francisco starter Dereck Rodriguez also struggled, lasting 2 2/3 innings, though Ty Blach delivered 3 1/3 strong frames in relief. Nick Hundley drove in four for the Giants, including a three-run homer in the 3rd.
