Pivetta, Phils blank Braves in NL East showdown

In the series opener between two upstart NL East teams, Nick Pivetta was brilliant, blanking the Braves in 7 innings, with 7 strikeouts against 1 walk. He was backed by some great defense — particularly from Jorge Alfaro — and homers from Nick Williams and Aaron Altherr. Mike Foltynewicz (6 IP, 1 ER) limited the Phillies, but Atlanta couldn’t get anything going at the plate.
