Red Sox place Smith on DL, recall Poyner

The Boston Red Sox placed right-handed pitcher Carson Smith on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder subluxation on Tuesday. To fill Smith’s spot on the 25-man roster, the club recalled left-handed pitcher Bobby Poyner from Triple-A Pawtucket. President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski made the announcement.
