Velasquez dominant, continues staff hot streak

Righty Vince Velasquez was the latest Phillies pitcher to turn in a dominant performance, allowing just one earned run in 6 2/3 innings, and Jorge Alfaro ripped a go-ahead RBI single in the 9th to give the Phillies a 2-1 victory over the Rays at Tropicana Field on Friday. Velasquez struck out a season-high seven and walked just one but did not factor in the decision.
